Those of you with eagle eyes may have noticed an addition to our apple based products that you may not be familiar with, the preservative potassium sorbate. This is because apple’s ferment which is great for cider, but not for juice!
The main job of potassium sorbate within JUICEBURST™ products is to prevent fermentation and ensure that our products taste as fresh as possible. The acidity within apples is currently low, meaning the juice from them does not contain enough naturally occurring acids to fight off potential bacteria growth on its own. Adding potassium sorbate gives the juice a little extra help to make sure that our products get to you at the best possible quality.
Currently, potassium sorbate can be found in our apple based drinks, which include our standard apple, our apple and strawberry, our apple and blackcurrant and our standard blackcurrant flavours.
We will continue to use potassium sorbate until the apple acidity levels have risen enough for us to be confident our products will arrive to you perfectly without it.
